Kirk Young started Young HR Services in 2002, and changed the corporate name to Job Match Assessment in 2006. Prior to JobMatch Assessment Kirk Young served 3 large companies in 9 different roles. Some of the highlights follow.
Pioneered Account-Based HR services at Cap Gemini Ernst & Young. Convinced top executives to fund the program. Enlisted 23 account executives to use the services in the first 6 months. Result: $450,000 in savings to the company. Increased workplace satisfaction and improved communication for almost 700 consultants in the period. Attained higher scores on workplace satisfaction and communication surveys.
Overhauled the hiring process for high turnover positions in a windshield plant. Designed a profile focused on agility and ability to handle heat, instead of physical strength. Facilitated the new hiring process.
Result: 160% turnover reduced to 32% in the first year.
Originated the Team Development Workshop for new and struggling teams. Analyzed individual personality types and customized tactics to reduce conflict between team members. Reported team tendencies, communication gaps, and identified tactics to alleviate challenges with the client and other teams. Established and packaged the method. Trained other professionals and expanded the program.
Result: $400,000 in savings of engagement leader and project manager billable time in 2001.
Expedited a 360 Feedback program with career coaching on CGEYs largest account. Developed the tool and implemented an internet-based survey with a performance management team. Persuaded account executives to pilot the process. Influenced top executives to supply career coaches to deliver the feedback. Coached 20 personally.
Result: Contributed to the lowest turnover for an account that year. Increased job satisfaction for the participants.
Implemented a Life/Work Balance improvement program for consultants on out-of-town assignments. Leveraged assessment tools, diagnosed opportunities, planned highest-return improvements and coached managers to deliver the packaged solutions.
Result: $900,000 in savings, or $1,500 per participant. Improved employee satisfaction scores on all participating projects for over 600 consultants.
Delivered a sexual harassment seminar to over 500 professionals in a single session. Engaged the crowd by modifying the delivery to include video and 'Donahue' style mixing with participants.
Result: Highest speaker scores in the annual meeting. Captured the attention and participation of the crowd.
Initiated a two-day employee management seminar in three cities. Influenced technical professionals to improve people management skills. Trained over 300 executives and managers in less than 6 months.
Result: 10% reduction in area turnover that year, to a record low.
Spearheaded a 48-hour program to demystify compensation, benefits and other personal concerns for acquired employees. Delivered the program, in person, to over 400 new employees in more than 20 states in one year.
Result: 20% reduction in turnover for newly acquired employees, to rates similar to employees of more than one year. Cut installation time for compensation, benefits, and other HR programs to less than a week.
Negotiated a win-win solution combining popular painting work with unpopular filter-house cleaning. Established the first unsupervised work team in a unionized plant at Lever Brothers.
Result: $300,000 in savings for the first year. Eliminated the subcontracting of both jobs, pleasing the company and union. Reduced plant emissions and downtime.
Transformed the back-room processes for national contract negotiations in 1990. Persuaded the VP and chief negotiator to purchase a personal computer. Consolidated disparate data from all the different plant systems, payrolls, benefit providers and actuaries. Invented a cost model using the real employee and retired populations.
Result: $20,000 in savings for shipping and neutral-site office costs. Cut analysis time between negotiation sessions by 4 times. Expedited the negotiation on time and under the $22 million budget.
